Located along the Mississippi River in the heart of the Delta, Riverside Rising, Inc. is a non-profit organization on the rise. The Mississippi Delta region suffers from generational poverty, low academic attainment, and significant health disparities, but the co-founders of Riverside Rising believe where there’s a will there’s a way. The Mississippi Delta is their home, and they are seeking to defy conventional wisdom. Riverside Rising is creating community development programs that will have a lasting impact on local and regional residents, and the organization is ready to take its efforts to the next level.

The co-founders of Riverside Rising, Inc., a Rosedale-based non-profit organization, have envisioned a more prosperous future for the Mississippi Delta region. This placemaking strategy is based on extensive qualitative and quantitative research and provides new opportunities for growth and redevelopment in one of the most underserved regions in America.

After contemplating what is missing, what is needed to attract and retain the next generation of workforce, and what will boost economic development opportunities in Rosedale, and beyond, the co-founders will use Riverside Rising to address three key areas including:

Beginning with Rosedale, a small community located on the Mississippi River, Riverside Rising will focus on a strategic growth strategy to scale their programs for regional impact. The target geographic area for Riverside Rising includes:

  • Bolivar County
  • Coahoma County
  • Sunflower County
  • Washington County

Ultimately, the co-founders of Riverside Rising are determined to execute on this vision and believe this strategy will better position the Mississippi Delta region to be an attractive place to live, work, and play for all who choose to call it home.

Based on the vision of Riverside Rising, five catalytic projects have emerged to transform Rosedale, Bolivar County, and the target geographic area. This strategy details these four concepts and includes specific programming, financial budgets, and the next steps needed to bring these projects to fruition.
